How Long are Your Workouts?
I am frequently asked about my fitness regimen. Two common questions are how long I work out each day and how many days a week I work out. Your fitness regimen has to be unique to both your current health status and your overall health goals. My current practice is that I am in the gym 5 - 6 days a week. I do some type of resistance training 4 - 5 days a week. The other days are what I would call "active recovery" and are light steady-state cardio. If you follow me on BodySpace (my user profile is dabascom) you'll see that my workouts during the week are about 1 hour in duration. On the weekends I tend to be in the gym longer because it is also my social time; I love my buddies at the gym :-) During the week I am often the first person in the gym. I love my gym time; it is like meditating and allows me to focus and start my day. My goal is to get in, train hard and and get out. You can train smart and train hard and it doesn't have to take hours each day.
One last thought. Five to ten minutes a day is better than none. If you are crazy busy take a few minutes first thing in the morning or before your evening shower and you can do an effective body weight regimen in the comfort of your own home (or hotel rooom). No Excuses!!!
