More Ways to Prevent T2
Are you at risk for developing type 2 diabetes? The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is taking another step forward to help our community prevent and/or reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. It is now possible to work with a trained YMCA lifestyle coach in person or virtually. The YMCA of Greater Kansas City Community Integrated Health Department is excited to announce 9 New Diabetes Prevention Classes starting across the KC Metro in the several next weeks!
YMCA Virtual Diabetes Prevention Program This program is a year-long commitment where you receive:
1:1 support, motivation and guidance from a personal health coach
Educational articles and interactive challenges about healthy living
Unlimited access to a supportive group of peers
An food database to track your nutrition and make healthier choices
A iHealth Bluetooth Scale
In-Person YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program
The is a year-long commitment broken into 16 weekly sessions, 3 bi-weekly sessions, and 6 monthly sessions. Each session is 1 hour in length and led by a trained lifestyle coach where you and a group of 8-15 individuals will discuss healthy eating, physical activity, and how to stay motivated to make a lifestyle change to prevent or reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Also, as an incentive, we offer participants a free 6-month family membership to the YMCA with both the in-person and virtual programs. Financial Assitance is available.
