Plaza 10K Prep Journal IV
How is your prep progressing for the Plaza 10K? I hope you have been staying well hydrated in the July heat and humidity. I am still training first thing in the morning which has been an incredible experience for me. As I shared in the past, I am not a "runner". In my younger years I was a sprinter and "retired" from running after I tore my left achilles tendon. Using the Couch to 10K app and starting to run again has provided me with an opportunity to rediscover my inner runner. There are a few weekends when my run starts around 6 am and there are more people in the park. It is great to have the external motivation to try to close the gap on those ahead of me on the path. Yes, I am competitive! LOL!
For those of you who have been concerned about how the event will support personal distancing I have great news! You can now register to run the race virtually! What does this mean? I have no clue at this time , but as I learn more I will keep you updated. You can check out the race website for more details about the Virtual 10K option along with taking a look at the course.
There are so many other benefits I am finding from my runs. Watching the sun rise in the East is so beautiful. Listening to the birds, running between the raindrops on those rare days we have had a morning rain. Listening to my heart beat and steps on the pavement. My morning runs have become an opportunity to connect with myself in ways that are hard to articulate but from which I am deriving so much benefit.
Are you are morning runner? Evening? Do you run alone or with friends? What do you enjoy most about your running time? I look forward to reading your comments below.
Namaste.
